The Team

Richard Martin, Managing Director

Richard’s leadership in the Energy Industry is aimed at “generating change” through deploying renewable energy technologies to commercial businesses seeking to reduce their energy costs. Advanced systems designed by AEES Group, include Battery Energy Storage Systems and Peak Demand Management. AEES Group’s sales are supported with structured financial products aimed at immediate utility bill savings, reducing environmental impacts, increasing power supply reliability and energy independence. Richard has extensive Corporate Management & Advisory experience including: Partner at The Litmus Group (now PwC); Director, International Projects of GRM International Pty Ltd (now ‘Palladium’) a leading Overseas Development Assistance management company operating in over 90 countries. Further International experience includes senior roles in the Middle East and South East Asia. Richard is also a graduate of the Climate Reality Leadership Corps training with Al Gore in Florida, USA.

David Carty, Technical Sales Manager

David Carty

A very experienced business and project manager, David Carty is passionate about Renewables and, has worked in the Energy Management sector (particularly in the C&I and SME markets) for 5 of the past 7 years. Highly valuing customer relations and always taking a methodical and consultative approach, David’s mantra has the primary focus of giving clients back 'the power' to control and manage their energy costs using long term and sustainable energy management strategies. In his role as Technical Sales Manager for AEES Group Pty Ltd, David is also very much a leader within the Operations Group. David’s qualifications include a Certificate 4 in Business Management.

David Fry, Principal Consultant


David has a strong banking and finance background, with over 25 years’ experience as a Relationship Manager in Business, Private and Corporate Banking. David is a values-based person, committed to carrying out all his roles with integrity and respect for others. His strengths include actively listening to and understanding clients’ requirements, and facilitating conversations to help his clients identify and reach their goals. His successful business relationships have been developed through his capacity to provide a high level of service which leads to further client referrals. David’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Business – Banking & Finance, Graduate Diploma in Accounting and a Diploma of Financial Services - Finance/Mortgage Broking Management.

Riley Van De Loo, Electrical Services Coordinator

Riley is currently completing a Master of Engineering (Electrical Engineering) at Melbourne University, whilst maintaining a professional role as Electrical Services Coordinator for AEES Group. Riley originates from South Australia, and has gained significant project experience with STC and LGC Solar PV projects including synchronisation of behind-the-meter Distributed Energy Resources (DER's) to the grid. He has gained extensive experience in private enterprise having worked over several years for his family’s engineering firm.

Helen Gibson, Sales Associate

Since mid-2018 Helen has focused on the Renewable Energy and Sustainable Geoscience industries. In her role at AEES Group, she supports management in sales and business development. Having trained as a geologist (BSc, MSc Science), Helen has worked in geoscience innovation since the early 1990s, most recently with Intrepid Geophysics Pty Ltd helping to develop, promote and sell better software tools for integrated 3D geological and geophysical modelling - for use in minerals & petroleum exploration, geothermal and groundwater studies. Helen enjoys genuine customer support and network creation. She strives to make science communication simpler to understand through spoken, print and video formats – and is a keen promoter of citizen science for the benefit of natural conservation and environment. Volunteering roles Helen currently holds are: Panel Judge for the Banksia Foundation; and Registered speaker with the ‘Women in Renewables’ group of the Clean Energy Council of Australia.

Chris Baron, Project Coordinator - Sustainability

Christopher Baron

Chris completed a Bachelor of Science (Chemical Engineering) at Melbourne University in 2017, and then moved into his chosen field commencing a Master of Engineering (Sustainable Energy) at RMIT in 2018. Whilst working part-time for AEES Group Pty Ltd during 2019, Chris will complete the final year of his Master’s degree. A practical aspect of his research by minor thesis will take him to Fiji for several weeks later in 2019 to be involved in the design and development of a renewable energy generation and storage scheme for a local tourism operator in Fiji.
